Helenium ‘Sahin’s Early Flowerer’:
Heleniums have a long flowering season but one of the longest is certainly ‘Sahin’s Early Flowerer’.
It was discovered by a Dutch nurseryman who had grown a line of seed raised plants and noticed that one flowered much longer than the others. He was so pleased with it that he named it after his daughter.
It will start flowering in June and continues through to the frosts in November and (other than a stake and the occasional dead head) needs little attention.
It is quite a strong colour to work with but running through the flower garden it has been most successful this summer.
