Pea sticking and peach pruning

This week we have been building cages over our perennials to support them as they grow, using hazel pea sticks collected in the winter from the woods.

It was the first pruning of the peaches in the peach house too. This will be a constant task through the summer, to tie in new shoots we wish to keep for fruit next year. Next pruning will be in a week or so and will also involve thinning the fruit which has set this year, to limit the number and ensure a good quality harvest.
