We have five varieties of peaches at Gravetye. Most are planted under glass in the peach house and the first one to fruit is Amsden June, at the end of that month. This is followed by Red Haven in July, then Francis and last of all the tastiest, Peregrine.

After this we move outside to harvest the trees from the kitchen garden, giving us a peach season all the way through till September.

These are some of the tastiest fruits in the world, George is roasting them in the kitchens and serving them with meadowsweet burnt cream, peach sorbet and marmalade gel, creating a wonderful fusion. But if we’re honest, one of the best ways to enjoy them is warm, and straight from the tree!
